Hill House
Ulcinj, Montenegro

Although influenced by countless villas on the Ulcinj coastline, the design of this family holiday home is simplified to pure geometric shapes and manipulated to take advantage of the sea views. By stretching out the plan to place it inside the site and handling details to enhance environmental appreciation, the building is integrated with the terrain, achieving an outdoor treatment in a challenging location. An entrance at ground floor leads to a corridor that connects on one side with the open-plan living/dining room and kitchen, and on the other to a bedroom and bathroom. Stairs down from the corridor lead to three further bedrooms - one en-suite and two others sharing a bathroom. The outdoor pool is at an intermediate level. The facade of the reinforced concrete structure has good thermal insulation and is resistant to microorganisms, cracking, and bad weather. Native stone is also used, for flooring and hard landscaping.
