Theory and Criticism

Historic planning, East Africa
I am interested in investigating theories in historic planning. The ideal is to evolve a model for development of the Islamic historic neighbourhoods along the East African Coastline with special reference to the Old Town of Mombasa.

I therefore request any contribution on this idea with specific reference to theoretical frameworks.

Bernard, the Public Library in Mombasa may have early maps made either by the German Colonial Office or the British Colonial Office. I know Britain took over "German East Africa" after the First World War.

Earlier than this, I imagine Mombasa was mainly used as a port for the export of black African slaves (Kafir) to North Africa and Saudi Arabia.
