The First Aga Khan Public Lecture: Zaha Hadid
Is there any chance this important lecture to be recorded and made available later as a streaming media within ArchNet?

Hi Mirjana,

The Graduate School of Design is expecting a very large crowd for this event as Zaha just won the Pritzker Prize. I am sure that it will be captured digitally and be webcast. I will try to find out and let you know.

Many thanks Shiraz. I believe that there would be a significant interest for the webcasted lecture among ArchNet members worldwide.

Congratulations the GSD team, and many thanks Shiraz and Mirjana for the live webcast of Zaha Hadid's historic Aga Khan Public Lecture. If this can be made available as a streaming video link at ArchNet and AKDN?

Hi Anwar! I'm so glad if that was a way for ArchNet members to enjoy Zaha Hadid's lecture. My Internet connection here in Belgrade wasn't fast enough last night (Europe), so it was impossible for me to see the lecture. I would support your idea of including the recorded material (or just a link) to the ArchNet library. Let me join you in congratulating the GSD team for their efforts in making it available to a world wide audience, especially for detailed technical guidance, and in thanking Shiraz for information on this event.

Finally, can you share with us your impressions about the lecture?

Hi Mirjana! Indeed that was a way for ArchNet members to enjoy Zaha Hadid's First Aga Khan Public Lecture. All credits to you, Shiraz and the GSD team.

Mirjana, the lecture was wonderful. Zaha was very gracious. She showed many of her new projects through images, paintings, and animated video walk-throughs. What I enjoyed, is the way she spoke about her work. It was not this academic speak that cloaks itself in theory. She is a designer and spoke about her work very practically. It was refreshing that all of the architecture "buzzwords" were absent in her lecture. The work spoke for itself. Zaha just added minor commentary. Those looking for deep meaning and high-brow theory were disappointed. Let them read Derrida. Give me Zaha anyday!

The GSD has archived many of past lectures and they can be accessed from the GSD website. I am sure that the Zaha lecture will be archived soon and will be accessible to all who want to view it. [See the GSD archive lectures],

Zaha,

Congratulations! Iraq stood glorified and the Pritzker was all smiles when you, the Aga Khan Professor, graciously walked into the hearts of so many across continents with the First Aga Khan Public Lecture on April 7 2004, while Graduate School of Design Web casted the historic event on Real Player10.

True to the tradion of Fatimid Heritage of enlarging the frontiers of global pluralism, can we think Telecasting Live, next in the series, sponsored for the proceeds devoted to Reconstruction of Iraq?

I can see the United States Secretary of State, Excellency Colin Powell allowing us join him this noble cause most happily.

Also, is there possible any audio available of Charles Correa. I am aware of his book in digital library, but dying to listen to his speech and save it for constant inspiration. will be really obliged if anyone helps me thus.

Manish Desai
