Saddam Hussein Gymnasium in Baghdad
I was wondering if anybody knows anything on the current state of the Saddam Hussein Gymnasium in Baghdad.

I think it was designed by Le Corbusier and partly built and named in the 80s.

Does anybody know if it is still standing today? Is it being used? Does anybody know whom should I contact to get more info? (perhaps a local authority?)

many thanks!

"The concrete building is a swirl of rampways under a sloping concave roof, one of the finest works in a city of daring structures left over from Iraq's architectural heyday in the 1970s and early 1980s.

But the venue once known as the Saddam Hussein Gymnasium is now beat up. Damage from looting after the U.S.-led invasion two years ago has been fixed, but the weathered wooden basketball floor lost some chunks a few months ago when a hanging scoreboard crashed onto the court."

The Corbusier's gymnasium is in perfect state and still being used. Try to get in touch with the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris, they are aware of the situation.
