documentation of Shahjahanabad in terms of maps/ drawings from 1900-2000
Hi All
Im a B.Arch student in my last year at CEPT, Ahmedabad. For my undergraduate research thesis, I'm looking at the idea public space in the walled city of Shahjahanabad and how it has undergone various transformations from 1900 onwards till the present date.
The basic landmark events being: The Coronoation Durbar; The Partition; The The Delhi Master Plans 1, 2 and 3; The Metro Rail intervention.

I need documentation of the walled city and its spaces during the last 100 years in terms of maps/drawings/ statistics etc. for my study.

1.Please suggest libraries or offices or people who would be helpful in my case.

2.Also, how can I access the SPA library?

Thanx
Chetna

There are two publications in the Digital Library, which would be a place to start: The Imperial Islamic City: A Map of 19th Century Shahjahanabad and Workshop 1: Shahjahanabad, the Walled City of Delhi.

Hi Chetna...

There was a seminar done by the final year students in SPA on Shahjahanbad. Its regarding how sustainable it was in the past. You can contact Mrs Aneesha Mukarjee, shes the best resource person you can get. She teaches ID at SPA.

Hi Chetna,
I would suggest you contact 'School of Planning & Architecture - New Delhi' as I remember during my days the SPA library was loaded with such studies. You can write to SPA librarian also.
best wishes
