Blurring the boundaries b/w orphange & neighborhood
hi,
m final year student of architecture from lahore, pakistan.m doin a thesis on designing a place for orphaned children and looking for options in design as how to integrate them with the society. i was also looking for the concept of street linking the complex with its neighborhood. this street will have service facilities to be used not only by the children of the complex but also by the neighborhood. plz give me some ideas as how should i proceed with this concept..n how to make it an interesting feature for both the children of the complex and the neighborhood.
Any suggestion, guidance or ideas are welcomed...waiting 4 reply!

Hi Rafia,

A wonderful project! Involving the local citizens will assure sustained success of the orphanage and how well it intergrates into the neighborhood. Look for "foster grandparents" to volunteer with the children to start with. Having the respect and support of neighborhood elders is vital. Contact Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living in Bangalore. He looks for worthwhile projects to donate and assist with volunteers.
