I am a final year student at NED Arch.Dept. in karachi, Pakistan. I want to pursue my further studies in algorithms and patterns in islamic architecture. i have a little exposure to programming. i want to study islamic arch in the light of pure mathematics and algorithms. I have interned at Kamil khan mumtaz architects in lahore where my love for mukarnas and patterns was born.
Does any body know which University i should go for masters program.?
Hassan, your interests remind me of (a)"A Sense of Unity" by Ardalan and Bakhtiar (pub: UCP) (b) "Process and Pattern" by Al-Bayati (pub: AARP) and (c) "Arabic-Islamic Cities" by Hakim (pub: KPI).
I would recommend my own work, but I need to find a publisher (my work is similar but not the same as Stewart Brands "Do Buildings Learn", although currently I am working on disentangling the origins of Anthropology, Ethnology and Ethnography. :)
