Hans-Jürgen Commerell

Hans-Jürgen Commerell is a photographer, curator and publisher who has been the co-director of the Aedes Architecture Forum, in partnership with Kristin Feireiss, since 1994. He studied social and business communication at Berlin University of the Arts. Since the early 2000s Commerell has diversified the programme of the Aedes Architecture Forum by looking more closely into the East-Asian cultural space. With TU MU Young Architecture from China, the first exhibition on young architecture from China worldwide, Commerell started an intensive and fruitful inquiry and exchange with the Chinese built environment, urban culture, rural development and architectural masterpieces which continues still today. In 2009, together with Kristin Feireiss, he conceptualised and established ANCB The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory, an international (networking and) operating cultural platform focused on innovation in global urbanism with its reciprocal socio-economic and ecological effects.
