Shaima al-SenaidiOman
Shaima al-Senaidi is Historical Studies Researcher in the Research and Studies Department at the National Museum of the of the Sultanate of Oman, where she has worked since 2022. In this role, she develops research content for historical and cultural projects that use royal and museum collections - both in Oman and internationally - to highlight and interpret Omani historical identity. One such project has included the study of various heritage restoration projects in Old Muscat through the lens of archival records, many of which are documented in the Mohamed Makiya Archive at MIT.
Senaidi's academic and professional interests include the history of Orientalist art, Arabic calligraphy, and the interpretation of ancient South Arabian inscriptions (Musnad script and its regional dialects). She is particularly interested in how these early scripts contribute to understanding linguistic development and cultural exchange across the Arabian Peninsula. More broadly, her work explores museology and cultural interpretation — particularly the role of museums in preserving collective memory and identity. Senaidi hold a degree in History and Archaeology from Sultan Qaboos University.
