John Morgan O’Connell is a reader in and director of the program in ethnomusicology at the School of Music, Cardiff University. His many publications concern the musical traditions of the Islamic world, including Turkey and the Middle East. He has recently completed a monograph on music and memory during World War I (under review). He has also published a monograph on Münir Nurettin Selçuk (2013) and edited a collection entitled Music and Conflict (2010).
