Final Report Regarding the Restoration of the Hadum Mosque

This final report details results of the renovation of the Hadum Mosque, severely damaged in 1999 when all other buildings in the mosque complex were destroyed during fighting in the region.  According to the report, the restoration was intended to

contribute to the preservation of the multi-religious built heritage of Kosovo" by preserving "a civic symbol of Gjakova... restoring the exterior and the yard of the mosque according to international conservation and restoration principles.


The restoration consisted of 12 discreet tasks:

1.   Restoration and reconstruction of minaret;

2.   Stone conservation of the walls, columns, window frames and doorframe stones;

3.   Painting conservation in the portico;

4.   Restoration of the praying hall cupola;

5.   Restoration of the portico stone cornice;

6.   Works with the purpose to decrease the humidity in the foundation and stone walls;

7.   Drainages all around the mosque;

8.   Paths and pavement around the mosque;

9.   New floor brick tiles in the portico;

10. Restoration of the entrance door to the praying hall and production of new doors in the minaret;

11. Restoration of the yard and the surrounding walls;

12. Maintenance program and seminars on the site.

The report contains 4 pages of photographs and 14 drawings that include plans, elevations, and sections.
