Betsy Baldwin

Betsy Baldwin served as Collections Archivist at the Aga Khan Documentation Center, MIT Libraries (AKDC@MIT) from 2014-2021. She earned her master of science degree at Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science, concentrating on archives management, and earned her archivist certification through the Academy of Certified Archivists. 


Betsy grew up in Massachusetts in a ca. 1790 farmhouse near Boston, and in a log cabin on the mid-coast of Maine. She earned her bachelor of arts degree studying painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and film at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Following college, she lived in New York City for over twenty years, working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for eighteen years, thirteen of them in its institutional archives. She worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at MIT's Rotch Library of Architecture and Planning, for over ten years.
