French urban planner, architect, and artist. Invited by Hubert Lyautey, military governor or Morocco during the French Protectorate (1912-1925), to work on the development of Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech, Meknes, and Rabat. He also developed plans for Paris and for Istanbul (1936-1951) under Kemal Atatürk.
