Felix Angel Matthews

Felix Angel Mathews was born in Tangier, Morocco in 1833. He became a US citizen in 1853 while residing in New York. He served in the US Navy. In 1859 he married Perpetua Concessa Berryessa, residing in Martinez, CA. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War, after which we was appointed U.S. Consul in Tangier, by President Grant. He served from1869-1887, and from 1890-1893 as U.S. Consul General in Tangier.
