The International Journal of Islamic Architecture recognizes the value of visual materials within the essays it publishes. This brief text introduces a special anniversary photo essay that includes 27 images taken from articles published since the journal’s 2012 foundation. Included are photos of secular and religious structures, individual buildings, and public spaces from Islamic contexts around the globe. Together, the collection illustrates the journal’s wide scope and reveals areas for future expansion.
