Documenting Islamic Architecture: Objectives and Outcomes in a Time of War
Type
abstract
Year
2021
This intentionally provocative essay highlights the need for increased attention to the documentation of Islamic heritage in light of the disheartening loss of life, destruction of architecture, and theft of cultural objects throughout large portions of today’s Middle East. Exploring Digital Humanities’ potential, it aims to inspire scholars, architects, and other interested groups to continue the work of documenting sites, sharing information, and disseminating data with heightened urgency.
