Awlad Nasser Building
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The ground and mezzanine floors were designed for a small department store; the remaining floors contain two large flats per floor. Uninterrupted views of the sea on the rear façade were devoted to the living/dining rooms and kitchen for each flat with the bedrooms on the front. In order to eliminate the feeling of repetition, the design aims to break up the façade of the building horizontally and vertically into a series of figurative building blocks, two, three, four, and six-storeys in height.
