Argos Hotel
Uchisar Nevsehri, Turkey
A boutique hotel in Uçhisar, Argos in Cappadocia is a rural revitalization project in a historic Cappadocian settlement spread across 30 acres. The 51-room luxury hotel comprises six restored mansions of Ottoman-period stone housing, and includes a number of cave-rooms and some unique historical aspects such as a monastic concert hall, an ancient winery and an underground tunnel. The project used an academic approach to preservation, documenting and preserving all historical spaces over a period of 13 years before the hotel was opened, and researching the most sensitive ways to install plumbing and electricity and to create the comfort of modern facilities.
