The Beach
Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Completed in 2014, the Beach Waterfront is a low-rise retail, leisure and entertainment development of 65 tenancies (restaurants, cafes, retail outlets and a multiplex cinema) split between four unique districts stretching along the public beach, all constructed above a basement level car park. Louvres, canopies and palm trees provide shade in the outdoor spaces. Precast concrete floor and wall panels within a concrete frame was used, while the facades were actually broken down to four key elements - glass, aluminium, GRC and natural stone. Shallow water-bodies are positioned in courtyards to maximise cooling. Channels carved along key axes from The Walk down to the beach ensure visual connectivity.
