In the Tuzla district of Istanbul, the university provides higher maritime education and applied training. The campus, a 60,000 square metre area, consists of eight interconnected blocks embedded in a sloped site, with an open-air walkway extending north-south that connects six of the blocks and defines the main circulation spine of the campus. The blocks parallel to the coast contain educational, administrative and social facilities and those vertically placed to the sea have classrooms; the library, in the social block has the best sea vista. The campus uses the sloping terrain to minimize disturbance to the natural coastline and is designed as a "green campus" with many energy-saving features.
