Laâyoune University of Technology
Laayoune, Western Sahara

The out-of-town site for this higher technical education college, with a total surface of 7,186 m2, generated a desire to recreate urbanity through an organisation around an axial scheme. The various buildings, with ochre-coloured exteriors, are separated to allow maximum ventilation and natural lighting and are connected by a set of external paths, squares, covered parking spaces and gardens, to accentuate this notion of urbanity. The design choices and the adoption of passive solutions enable the project to achieve a particular environmental efficiency through features such as natural ventilation, natural lighting, solar protection at openings, dual-skins and walls as windbreaks.
