Saray Ameriha
Kashan, Iran
The complex, constructed after the 1778 earthquake by a member of the Ameri dynasty, is a significant courtyard-house, with an area of 9,700m2 in a historic urban district in Kashan. Due to the complexity of its design and ornamentation, the house is being preserved in three phases; the first phase, the adaptive re-use of part of the house as a 15-room boutique hotel, as well as an amphitheatre, restaurant, breakfast area, coffee shop and tea house, has been completed. The project aims to preserve the integrity of the complex and its elements and materials, as well as to change the negative perception of historic homes among the local community.
