Bukhara International Airport Terminal
Bukhara, Uzbekistan

The project replaces the outdated two-storey airport terminal building from the 1980s with a new structure at the centre of the Bukhara airport complex built in accordance with contemporary airport-design principles including large, free-flowing spaces for passenger arrival and departure streams and baggage hall, and attention to passenger services and security. The terminal services 500,000 passengers a year along international routes; the design takes into consideration the historic status of Bukhara as a gateway to the ancient Silk Road and to Uzbekistan’s architectural monuments, combining contemporary standards and materials with regional particularity and traditions.
