Hatay Airport
Antakya, Türkiye

The domestic and international airport terminal has a 3.4 million passenger capacity per annum. It incorporates twelve check-in desks, a VIP terminal and three CIP lounges. The design was driven by a consideration of the desire for development and modernization of this city in eastern Turkey. The architect used an innovative and contemporary design approach for the building utilizing contemporary materials and building systems but still incorporating local know-how and conventional building systems. Due to Hatay’s rainy climate, the roof structure has been designed with a good rainwater deployment strategy. Its 3-dimensional pattern creates both a functional and decorative roof, and the roof canopy provides shade.
