Burj-i Kulah Farangi
Shushtar, Iran
Kulah Farangi tower is an octagonal structure made of stone that sits on the bank of the Karun above Shushtar. Its precise age is not known but it may date to Sasanian times. Its location on a sweeping bend in the river just after the head of the Ab-i Gargar canal and adjoining a small weir known as Band-i Mizan suggests that it may have been a watchtower, securing the town and overlooking the infrastructure below.
