Sakar Khan Mosque is located in the district of Kalupur, near the west end of the historic walled city of Ahmedabad. On stylistic grounds, the building might be dated to around 1460 or 1470 CE.
The building is a rectangle, open on its east (long) side. This eastern facade has a central opening nine bays wide and two side openings three bays wide each. The interior is a trabeated (pillared) prayer hall. Five domes running down the center of the hall form large bays. Two aisles separate these central domed bays from the qibla wall and the front of the mosque. One aisle separates these domed bays from one another and from the side walls.
