South Gate (Gerasa)
Jerash, Jordan

The South Gate served as the main entrance into Gerasa for those approaching from Philadelphia (present-day Amman) in both the Roman and Byzantine periods. It consists of a large central doorway flanked by two smaller doorways. The gate is decorated with engaged columns, niches, and vegetal carvings.
