Summer Wind
Mesudiye, Türkiye

The private residence is built atop and into a cliff looking towards the islands of Tilos, Chalki, and Rhodes, and the site is characterised by constant, gentle winds. The use of renewable energy informed all aspects of the design and construction. The house is organised on three floors served by a wooden staircase that is also a ventilation shaft topped by a wind-operated turbine; there are a living room and a great room, three bedrooms, and a kitchen and services, as well as extensive terraces, balconies, and a pool and garden. The retaining walls are in local stone, and the house is built of laminated wood beams and columns; the overhanging roofs are finished with red and blue tiles.
