Narköy Training Centre, Eco-Hotel & Organic Farm
Kocaeli, Türkiye

A 30-acre organic farm in the same family over many generations, the younger members are also involved in training and education, and this project brings all three interests together. Fourteen two-storey buildings are conceived as a village and house classrooms, accommodations, and communal facilities including a restaurant. The buildings are raised in order to minimise impact on the earth and are constructed from prefabricated steel and clad in wood. The architect employed sustainable principles in all aspects of the project: solar panels, wood pellet boilers, phyto-purification water recycling, and all-natural materials such as wood and local stone. The centre is 80% autonomous for food supply and water and energy management.
