Shahrasb Farm Villa
Ziyar, Iran

After several years of drought in the area, due to climate and poor management of water resources, the owner of Shahrasb Farm decided to switch to breeding Arabian horses on his land. He engaged the architects to build a horse breeding facility, as well as this project, a farmhouse that would allow him to visit the farm with his family and would include an office for his other work. In accordance with the brief, the villa was built using passive energy strategies. The one-bedroom villa and attached office space is constructed of compressed bricks made locally that form thick, load-bearing walls. Steel beams are used for the arched, vaulted roof system.
