War Childhood Museum
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

This project involved the renovation and reuse of a small, multipurpose hall, adjacent to a healthcare facility and kindergarten, to house a museum dedicated to the experiences of children in war. The "micro-museum" project brief for called for an exhibition area, an archival room, administrative area, and a room for testimony video recordings, as well as service facilities. The hall shares space with the healthcare facility next door, so the museum entrance combines entrances to both facilities. To maximise use of the room’s volume, some displays are suspended from the ceiling and the hall is subdivided into smaller spaces. The interior is minimalistic with an emphasis on flush connection of the materials.
