Kaunos Archaeological Park
Mugla, Türkiye

This project involves five interventions at the site of the Kaunos Archaeological Park, an ancient city that is visited by a large number of tourists every year, to improve ease of circulation around the site and conserve the archaeology. The overall strategy was to create a uniform set of shelters and bridges over the delicate archaeological landscape, in a way that disturbed the remains as little as possible, while creating access for visitors to the site. The structures were constructed from wood planks and posts, with thin metal feet to fix them to the remains. Wood was chosen as it would easily stand out as a contemporary addition among the stone remains.
