Renovation of Republic Square
Divrigi, Türkiye

In a small town notable for a Great Mosque and Hospital from the Seljuk period that are now on Unesco’s World Heritage List, the formerly dilapidated town square covers an area of 7,000 m2. The new works include an amphitheatre for 400 people, a "Civilisation Tower" with information on Divrigi, an open ceremonial and activity area, a landscaped area with 160 new trees and lawns, a café, taxi station, tourism office, restrooms, and two fountains and two ornamental pools. The new structures are built in local stone, which was no longer being quarried. The project is intended to increase civic pride, enhance tourism, and foster economic development.
