A handicrafts village for the artisans of Tyre, this project provides workshops, exhibition space, and other amenities for artisans working to revive the Phoenician heritage of Tyre, including glass blowers, potters, jewelers, weavers, and dyers. Located between a green field and orange trees within an orange grove, the buildings of the village take their design inspiration from surviving local examples of urban housing and are built with local, renewable materials. Divided into eight main blocks, the village is designed to be walkable, uses photovoltaic solar cells, and has a wastewater treatment plant and rainwater storage facility, in keeping with green design principles.
