Pustec Park
Pustec, Albania

The centre of the small lakeside village is occupied by a church that was fenced off, and the entire area was ill-defined and cluttered. The fence and a fountain were removed, debris cleared, and the irregular terrain levelled. Dressed stone was used for paving and for stepped benches and a partial that serves as a backdrop for perfomances. A well beneath the previous fountain is now contained in dressed-stone walls as a small open pool; at one end, a dressed stone pillar or obelisk was erected and surmounted by a cross. Opposite the church, the long portico of an unused building was restored to provide a shaded area. Low retaining walls now mark the borders of the square.
