The Latin Bridge is an Ottoman-era stone bridge across the Miljacka River in Sarajevo, known as the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, an event which led to the outbreak of World War I.
Location
71000 Obala Kulina bana, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The stone bridge was replaced in 1798 after being washed away in a flood in 1791, funded by trader Abdulah Briga.
A ledger from 1541 mentions a bridge at the site of the Latin Bridge built by a leather worker named Husein, the son of Širmed, though it is likely this bridge was made of wood, replaced by a stone bridge built by Ali Ajni Bey.
