Sebilj
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Sebilj is one of the best known Ottoman structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and perhaps the largest tourist site in Sarajevo. Tourists flock in numbers to the site also lovingly named “pigeon square” for the hundreds of pigeons who perch upon its sidewalks. The original Sebilj was mostly destroyed during a fire, but subsequent restorations and a relocation during the Austro-Hungarian period have situated Sebilj at the entrance of the Ottoman town area Bascarsija.
