2015-18 Survey
This is preserved as one of the main buildings of the mausoleum park and is usually locked. The kangura appears to be partially lost in the 1959-62 photos, but it has now been repaired and encircles the upper part of the tomb architecture. The bird droppings in the interior have not been removed.
(Paragraphs 2nd to 4th of 2015-18 Survey translated using Google Translate)
[Plan] According to Monuments of Delhi, it is 13.6m square and stands on a 2.4m high platform. The west side is a mihrab, and the other three sides are open, but the north and south openings are inlaid with red sandstone jali (punched work) and cannot be used for entrance or exit.
[Exterior] The current platform height is just under 1m, and soil has accumulated. Made of red sandstone, it has a dome on a quadrangular plan, and white marble is used in various places as in T6, and the walls are also inwardly tilted. The masonry alternates between thick and thin layers. The spindle-shaped dome stands on a shallow octagonal drum.
[Interior view] An octagon is created with three squinch arches, and three tiers of corbels (corner and flat) are placed on top of the dome at the corners. Corbels (with two tiers of hanging ornaments) are inserted at the corners, and the inside of the squinch arch is a single curved surface. The multi-petal arch decoration seen on the mihrab and outer opening of T6 can be seen not only on the outer arches, but also on the mihrabs and transitional arches.
