The building houses offices for an argriculture research organisation. The project was conceived to exploit the structural and aesthetic potential of baked brick. The four-storey structure is thus wholly constructed of this material; even the beams and slabs are re-inforced brick concrete, a system whereby bricks are joined by concrete to form horizontal structural members.
The building is a narrow rectangle in plan and comprises a structural sytem of brick peirs and bearing walls that, on the perimeter, form a multi-height colonade which extends, up to the third floor level.
