The mosque, which dates to the middle of the 18th century, is located between the town of Matrah and the valley of Ruwi. The Ministry of National Heritage and Culture came up with a proposal for the preservation of the mosque. This involved:
a) a plan for the consolidation and restoration of the mosque, including the construction of a new roof and a shallow terrace marking the limits of the sacred area; and,
b) a plan for the landscaping of the site with the design of an appropriate fence and garden.
