Dar al-Rida

Zabdani, Syria

This project involves both the restoration of an old family house with masonry walls, and the construction of a new, four-storey house with a concrete skeleton and stone cladding, in order to accommodate an extended family. The houses are set in an old, established garden in which has been added a swimming pool. Care was taken to harmonise the old and the new and to give the property a distinctly Damascene identity.
