Sultan Qansuh al-Ghuri Mosque Conservation
Cairo, Egypt

A nine-year project to restore one of the architectural masterpieces of the Mamluk period. The guiding principle was minimum intervention -- whereas it was previously more common in Egypt to dismantle and replace wholesale any damaged parts. A training ground for many professionals, the project has become a point of reference in the field of restoration.
