The hypostyle mosque is based on a rectangular ground plan with a minaret placed at each of the four corners. A dome with round clerestories covers the center of the prayer hall. Windows placed in the upper part of the walls provide natural lighting. The roof is supported on steel beams arranged in a square grid pattern and placed 45 degrees off the main axis. The beams rest on six central columns, four of which are capped by a skylight, and nine columns on the perimeter.
