The square has been divided into two sections by the construction of a road specially designed for parades. The northern part consists of a wide paved area for outdoor gatherings with a cafeteria, kiosque, a war memorial, and a fountain. The southern side has been planted with trees and is lined with the cultural and commercial centers, the cinema and local council. On the northern and eastern sides, the building facades and the arcades have been restored. The mosque and the muhafadha lie to the west. The latter structure comprises offices, several conference rooms, and nine flats for the staff. Car traffic is confined to the periphery of the square.
