An urban space that "replaces the usual models in this part of Africa" forms the setting for this private mosque and madrasa, which serve a new residential complex. The mosque is divided into two parts - a galleried prayer court and a prayer hall. Both have columns inspired by those in the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra. The mosque's five domes are covered with turquoise and copper mosaic and embellished internally with chandeliers of Murano glass. The domes, as well as the suspended coffered ceilings in staff and stucco, were realised by Cameroon-trained craftsmen.
