Sukhumvit Apartments
Bangkok, Thailand
This building provides spacious apartments for the owner and for each of his three grown children, in a vertical stacking of the traditional housing compound for the extended family. The ground floor contains communal spaces - a long swimming pool, dining terrace and gymnasium. Above it are the four apartments, organised as double-storey duplex units that allow for vertical spatial connections. The main structure is concrete, while the terraces are of lightweight steel covered with fine timber. Other external finishes include limestone, glass and steel with aluminium joinery. The interior has polished limestone floors and teak-panelled walls.
