Tradition and modernity' is the theme of this development of 2'000 apartments, built for the 2005 World Student Games. As in a traditional hilltop village, the housing steps down the sloped site. All the apartments have their own private outdoor space in the form of a terrace. They were built as athlete housing, but are now privately owned. The diversity of accommodation (there are six apartment types, ranging from 75 m2 to 179 m2) ensures a corresponding social diversity among the occupants. The structure incorporates in-situ concrete, roughcast cement, plaster, insulating materials and aluminium.
