Seykoun Terrace Café/Restaurant
Brummana, Lebanon
A large 'water mirror' overflowing on all sides is the central feature of this terrace for a restaurant in the mountains. Appearing as a weightless floating plane, it forms a bridge with the natural surroundings and fills the space with the sound of falling water. A sizeable Corten steel structure facing the pool provides shade for up to 350 people on hot summer days. Five finishing materials were used throughout: local 'fourni' stone for the floors, granite for the pool, teak iroko wood for the deck and Corten steel and textile for the shade structure.
