Band-i Amir
Shiraz, Iran
Located 20 kilometers northeast of Shiraz, the Band-i Amir is an dam-bridge that was constructed across the Kor River under the eponymous Buyid ruler Amir Azud al-Dawla (reg. 949-83), from whom the bridge takes its name. Measuring 100 meters in length, the structure is built with stone blocks laid in cement mortar and linked by lead joints.
