This institute reinterprets traditional learning values and traditional Indian architecture in a contemporary form. The values include learning in proximity with nature, learning from each other via a high degree of interaction and learning in a humane environment, as evidenced by the punctuating courtyards and warm natural materials used throughout. The simple low-built structures respect the topography with no redundant features and materials are local, low maintenance and built with local skills. Minimal embodied energy, natural lighting and ventilation, and shading from plantings contribute to a campus that enhances learning and inspires a feeling of belonging.
